How a Montreal plumber grew its search footprint ten-fold

Emergency plumbing is the most local search there is. Either you appear in the borough where the basement is flooding, or you do not exist.

01 — The challenge

A plumber invisible outside a handful of queries.

Plomberial is a plumbing contractor working across Greater Montreal, handling both emergency call-outs and planned work.

At 39,656 impressions across a full year, the site was appearing for almost nothing. Emergency plumbing searches are overwhelmingly local and overwhelmingly specific — a job type in a borough — and the site had neither the service coverage nor the geographic coverage to appear for them.

“A flooded basement is a five-minute decision made from a phone. If I am not on the screen for that borough, for that exact problem, I am not in the running at all.”

So the site was built out across both axes: what breaks, and where.

02 — Our approach

Job type by borough, with emergency intent handled on its own terms.

Coverage was built across the two axes that actually drive plumbing search: the specific failure, and the borough it happened in. That combination is what took impressions from 39,656 to 391,327.

Emergency intent was treated separately from planned work, because someone standing in water reads a page differently from someone budgeting a bathroom renovation.

Clicks grew 173% to 1,623, a slower rate than impressions. The footprint ran ahead of the click-through, which is normal at this stage and is where the next twelve months of work sits.

03 — What we did

Service-by-borough coverage, emergency intent, technical foundations.

Appearing for what breaks, where it breaks.

Service-by-borough coverage

Built both axes of plumbing search

The specific failure crossed with the borough it happened in. That combination took impressions from 39,656 to 391,327.

Emergency intent

Separated the panic from the plan

A flooded basement and a bathroom renovation are different readers. They no longer share a page.

Ten-fold footprint

39,656 → 391,327 impressions

Matched month-for-month against the prior year, so seasonality cannot flatter the comparison.

Honest read on the gap

Clicks grew slower than impressions

Clicks rose 173% against impressions at 887%. The footprint is ahead of the click-through, and that gap is stated rather than smoothed over.

04 — The results

Twelve matched months: +887% impressions, +173% organic clicks.

Period covered: Aug 1, 2025 – Jul 31, 2026 vs Aug 1, 2024 – Jul 31, 2025. Matched months only, so seasonality cannot flatter the comparison.
