01 — The challenge

A seasonal professional service with no paid visibility at all.

K&R Strategic Partners provides tax and accounting services in Arizona. Demand is intensely seasonal, trust-driven and phone-led, and the competitive set includes both national tax chains and local firms bidding on the same handful of high-intent searches.

The firm had no paid search presence. Launching into a category like this means competing immediately at full price against established accounts with years of conversion history — there is no gentle on-ramp.

“In this profession the relationship starts on a phone call. I did not need a hundred form fills from people shopping on price, I needed the right people calling in January.”

Illustrative quote — written by Web Tonic to put the results above in an owner’s words. It is not a statement provided by the client.

And in tax services, timing is not a detail. A firm that is invisible during filing season has effectively missed the year, which is why launch speed mattered more than launch elegance.

02 — Our approach

Track the call, then buy the searches that produce one.

Call tracking came first, because a professional services account that cannot count calls is optimising toward the minority of its own results. Both website calls and calls placed straight from the ads were configured as conversions before the account scaled.

Coverage was built around service intent rather than around the profession. Someone searching for help with a tax notice, a business return or a bookkeeping cleanup are three different buyers with different urgency and value, and each was given its own campaign, copy and landing experience.

Because the category is seasonal and the account was new, we deliberately started narrow: high-intent, in-state searches only, proving cost per call before widening. Launching broad in a competitive professional-services auction is the fastest way to spend a quarter's budget teaching the account nothing.

03 — What we did

Count calls, segment by service intent, start narrow.

A launch playbook for a category where a single client relationship is worth years of fees.

Call tracking first

The account's main conversion was invisible by default

Website calls and calls placed directly from ads were configured as conversions before scaling. In professional services, an account that cannot count calls optimises toward a minority of its own results.

Service-intent segmentation

Three buyers, not one profession

A tax-notice emergency, a business return and a bookkeeping cleanup differ in urgency and value. Each got its own campaign, copy and landing experience rather than one generic accounting page.

Narrow launch

High-intent, in-state searches only

A new account in a competitive professional-services auction cannot afford breadth. We proved cost per call on the highest-intent segment before widening coverage.

Seasonal readiness

Built to be strongest during filing season

In tax services a firm that is invisible in filing season has missed the year. Pacing and coverage were built around that curve from day one.

04 — The results

Five months: 233 conversions, 734 calls, $24,740 tracked value.

Period covered: first five months of the account, through Jul 31, 2026. No prior-year comparison exists — the account started from zero.
