How a certified arborist climbed 6.6 average positions in a seasonal trade
Tree work is bought in two short bursts a year and forgotten in between. Ranking is the asset; the clicks arrive when the wind does.

01 — The challenge
A certified trade competing with anyone who owns a chainsaw.
Arboxygène is an ISA-certified arboriculture outfit working Granby, Magog, Bromont and the wider Montérégie — pruning, felling, stump grinding and tree preservation, with 24/7 emergency call-out.
The category has almost no barrier to entry. A homeowner searching after a storm cannot tell a certified arborist from an unlicensed operator with a truck, and the search results rarely help them. Demand also arrives in two narrow bursts — spring pruning and post-storm emergencies — so visibility has to already exist before the weather creates the need.
“Certification is the whole difference and it is invisible on a search results page. When a branch is on somebody’s roof at midnight they call whoever appears first.”
So the work targeted the visibility that has to be in place before the storm, not the storm week itself.
02 — Our approach
Rank for the whole service area, then be found before the weather turns.
Average Search Console position improved from 25.5 to 18.9 across twelve matched months, and impressions grew 34% from 638,832 to 858,405 — the site is now visible for far more of the demand in its region. Profile website clicks rose 26% from 471 to 593, and all-channel GA4 sessions rose 6%.
Both burst seasons now open with the site already ranking, which is the asset a trade like this needs before the weather creates the demand.
03 — What we did
Service-by-town coverage, emergency intent, local presence.
Ranking built in the quiet months so it is there in the loud ones.
Position, not just presence
Average position 25.5 → 18.9
Six and a half places of average improvement across a full year of matched months. On page two that is the difference between existing and being seen.
Service-by-town coverage
Pruning, felling and stump grinding, separately
A homeowner with a dying maple and a developer clearing a lot are not the same search. Granby, Magog and Bromont are not the same market either.
Emergency intent, handled apart
The 24/7 case is its own demand
Storm call-outs are bought in minutes, not compared over weeks. That intent was given its own coverage rather than being folded into maintenance content.
Snippets, the next lever
Ranking gained faster than click-through
With position and reach both up, better titles and descriptions now convert more of the appearances the site has already won.
04 — The results
Twelve matched months: 6.6 average positions gained and 34% more reach.
