the growth came from content
01 — The challenge
Trend speed versus licensing approval.
Marvel Styles operates inside Disney licensing, where character depiction, copy and even framing are governed. The content that performs on social, meanwhile, is whatever is culturally relevant this week.
Most teams resolve that tension by going slow and safe, and the account goes quiet.
“Everything we post has to clear licensing, and by the time a trend clears most approval processes the trend is over. We needed a system, not more meetings.”
The answer was a production system designed around the approval process rather than in spite of it.
02 — Our approach
Licensing-compliant systems that let trend content ship in under two weeks.
Concepts were pre-cleared as formats rather than as individual posts, so each new trend could be poured into an already-approved container. That is what took brief-to-delivery under two weeks.
Content was then judged on saves and engagement rather than reach, because a save is the signal that a licensed apparel post did commercial work rather than decorative work.
03 — What we did
What the campaign actually consisted of.
The working parts behind the Marvel Styles — Disney numbers above.
Pre-cleared formats
Approval once, reuse many times
Formats cleared licensing as templates, so trend-specific versions did not restart the approval clock.
Creative from the campaign
Sub-two-week turnaround
Fast enough to catch a trend
Brief to delivery ran under two weeks, which is what makes trend-led content possible inside an IP framework.

Saves as the KPI
Intent, not vanity reach
Saves rose 40% in two months. For licensed apparel, a save is closer to purchase intent than a like.
Reported engagement metrics
9%+ engagement rate
Sustained, not a single spike
Average engagement held above 9% across the programme rather than in one outlier post.

“Web Tonic did in six weeks what our last two agencies couldn't in a year — and for the first time we could see every dollar of it”
