How a commercial painting contractor built a search presence from zero
Before December 2025 there was nothing to measure, so every figure here is an absolute built from zero.

01 — The challenge
An established contractor with no digital footprint at all.
Peinture Marcil paints residential, commercial and industrial buildings across the Rive-Nord of Montreal, winning work on referral and on the quality of finished projects.
Until the end of 2025 none of that existed online in any measurable form. There was no analytics history, no Search Console data and no ranking footprint — a business with a twenty-year reputation and a zero-month baseline.
“Everyone on the Rive-Nord who has hired us knows exactly what we do. Everyone who has not has never heard of us, and that is most of the market.”
So the first job was existing at all, and the second was appearing for commercial work rather than only residential.
02 — Our approach
Launch the foundations, then aim at commercial and industrial intent.
Measurement came first — analytics, Search Console and business profile in place before content — so that growth could be read rather than guessed at.
Coverage then split the three revenue lines apart, because a homeowner repainting a living room and a property manager tendering a warehouse repaint search nothing alike and are worth very different amounts.
Eight months in: 2,176 all-channel sessions, 1,725 new users, 3,707 organic impressions and 55 organic clicks, with average Search Console position improving from 73.2 in the first month to the mid-20s. Profile website clicks rose 72% from 65 to 112 and direction requests 16%.
The absolutes are small and stated as such. Fifty-five organic clicks is a foundation, not a result — the ranking trajectory from position 73 to the mid-20s is the thing worth watching.
03 — What we did
Measurement first, three revenue lines, local foundations.
Build the baseline, then build on it.
Measurement before content
Analytics, Search Console and profile first
A launch with no baseline cannot be judged later. The instruments went in before the work did.
Recreated Search Console performance view
Three revenue lines, split apart
Residential, commercial, industrial
A warehouse repaint tender and a living-room quote are different buyers with different budgets and no shared search vocabulary.
Sessions by month since launch
Position 73 to the mid-20s
The trajectory, not the click count
In eight months the average position moved from effectively invisible to the edge of page three. That is what should be judged this early.
Launch metrics
Small numbers, stated plainly
55 organic clicks in eight months
This is a foundation being laid, not a performance being claimed. The absolute is on the page so the percentage cannot stand in for it.

“Web Tonic did in six weeks what our last two agencies couldn't in a year — and for the first time we could see every dollar of it”
