Reddit Ads

Advertise where people ask for recommendations.

ask for recommendations

We are the Reddit ads agency for brands whose buyers research in public. Reddit is where product decisions get argued out, and it now sits inside AI answers and search results too. We pick the subreddits, write copy that survives the comments, and run the account alongside your paid social and paid search spend.

THE FOUR LAYERS

Reddit rewards a different sequence.

different sequence

Community selection, then message, then format, then measurement. Campaigns that fail here almost always fail at the first two: the audience was right and the ad read like an ad written for somewhere else.

Measurement & scaling

Subreddits are the targeting, not a detail.

Reddit's advertising business is no longer niche. In its second quarter of 2026 the company reported ad revenue of $762m, up 64% year over year, with 130.3m daily active uniques and 514.6m weekly active uniques. That is a large audience sorted into tens of thousands of self-selected interest groups, which is the part media plans undervalue.

We build the community list by hand: the obvious subreddits for your category, the adjacent ones where your buyer actually spends time, the regional and professional groups, and the threads where people already ask which product to buy. Interest and keyword targeting layer on top, conversation targeting puts you next to the discussions that matter, and lookalike and customer-list audiences take over once the pixel has data.

Exclusions get the same attention. Communities that generate curiosity clicks and no intent come out early, so the budget concentrates where the conversation is commercial.

  • Hand-built community list, category plus adjacent and regional
  • Keyword, interest and conversation targeting layered deliberately
  • Customer lists and lookalikes once the pixel has volume
  • Low-intent subreddits excluded early, not tolerated

Write like a member, disclose like a brand.

Reddit users are unusually good at spotting marketing language and unusually willing to say so underneath your ad. That is a feature: the comment section is free research and, handled well, free credibility. Handled badly it becomes the most visible part of the campaign.

So we write plainly, lead with the specific thing the product does, avoid superlatives, and never pretend to be a neutral member. Ads that answer the question a subreddit keeps asking outperform slick video films by a wide margin here. We use Reddit's native formats deliberately — conversation placements, free-form posts, video and carousels — and we brief a real person to reply to comments in brand voice for the first days of every launch.

Nothing runs that we would not be happy to see quoted in a thread, because on Reddit it will be.

  • Plain, specific copy written for the subreddit it appears in
  • Native conversation, free-form, video and carousel placements
  • Comment moderation and brand replies from day one
  • Clear disclosure — never a brand posing as a member

Reddit advertising revenue in Q2 2026, up 64% year over year

The same threads feed AI answers.

Reddit content has become one of the most cited sources in general search results and in AI assistants, and the company is building its own search and answers products on top of it. On the Q2 2026 earnings call Reddit reported its eighth consecutive quarter of more than 60% revenue growth, with advertising about 95% of the total — a business increasingly built on being the place people and models go for opinions.

That changes how we brief the work. Paid activity on Reddit is planned next to the organic reality: which threads already rank for your category, which of them misrepresent your product, where a credible answer from your team would be welcome, and which questions have no good answer yet. We coordinate with our AI search and organic search teams so the paid spend and the citable content point the same way.

It is a slower compounding benefit than a click, and it is the reason this channel is worth more than its media budget suggests.

  • Existing threads for your category mapped before launch
  • Paid activity coordinated with organic and AI-search work
  • Misleading threads answered credibly, never astroturfed
  • Questions with no good answer turned into content

95%

of Reddit's revenue comes from advertising (Q2 2026)

Judge it on pipeline, not platform clicks.

Reddit clicks are cheap relative to the larger platforms, which makes click-based reporting flattering and misleading in equal measure. We install the pixel properly, send conversions server-side where the browser is unreliable, and feed qualified outcomes back from your CRM so the platform optimises toward revenue rather than form fills.

Scaling is done by adding subreddits and new angles rather than by pushing budget into a saturated audience: subreddit audiences are finite and fatigue quickly, so breadth beats brute force. Where the decision is large we run a geo holdout, because on a platform this conversational a share of the effect never touches an ad click at all.

Reporting states what we know, what we are inferring and what we would need to test next, and it ends in a recommendation rather than a chart pack.

  • Pixel plus server-side conversions and CRM feedback
  • Scaling by subreddit and angle, not budget on a tired audience
  • Creative rotated before fatigue, on a schedule
  • Holdout tests where the spend decision justifies one

01 — The challenge

Your buyers trust a thread more than your homepage.

Somebody researching your category types the question, finds a five-year-old thread, and takes a stranger's word over anything on your site. Meanwhile your ads run everywhere except the place that conversation happens, and the first attempt at advertising there got a mauling in the comments and was quietly switched off.

“We tried Reddit once. The comments were brutal and we stopped.”

That is a solvable problem, and the audience is worth solving it for: 130.3m daily and 514.6m weekly active uniques, with ad revenue up 64% year over year in Q2 2026. The fix is not a louder ad. It is the right subreddits, copy written for the room, a named person answering comments, and conversions measured in your own systems instead of on cheap clicks. Done that way, the comment section stops being the risk and becomes the reason the channel works.

02 — Our approach

Pick the rooms. Earn the comments. Measure the pipeline.

We start by reading: the subreddits in your category, the adjacent ones your buyer actually uses, and the threads that already rank for your key questions. That becomes a hand-built community list with low-intent groups excluded before launch. Copy is written plainly for each room, discloses who we are, and uses native conversation, free-form, video and carousel placements rather than repurposed social assets. A real person moderates and replies in brand voice through the first days of every launch. Measurement runs on the pixel plus server-side conversions and CRM feedback, so the platform optimises toward qualified pipeline. We scale by adding subreddits and angles rather than forcing budget into a fatigued audience, and we run holdouts when a decision is bigger than the cost of proving it.

03 — What we did

Four phases, one credible presence.

Listening, launch, moderation and scaling run in sequence, with a weekly working session and a written monthly review of what the channel produced.

Weeks 1-2 / Listening

Read the category before buying it

Communities, recurring questions and the threads that already rank mapped by hand, with the low-intent groups excluded up front.

Mapping the subreddits and questions that already exist

Weeks 2-3 / Creative

Write copy the room will accept

Plain, specific ads per subreddit with clear disclosure, built for native conversation, free-form and video placements.

Copy drafted and cut back for each subreddit

Weeks 3-5 / Launch

Launch small, answer everything

Tight subreddit sets, pixel and server-side conversions verified, and a named person replying in brand voice from the first hour.

Launch with moderation staffed, not hoped for

Ongoing / Scaling

Add rooms and angles, rotate the ads

New subreddits and new angles instead of budget on a tired audience, with CRM outcomes feeding the platform and a holdout where it counts.

Scaling by breadth, with ads rotated on schedule

What brands ask us first.

What does a Reddit ads agency actually do?

Four things: choose the subreddits worth buying, write copy those rooms will accept, staff the comment section, and measure outcomes in your own systems rather than on cheap Reddit clicks. The buying interface is straightforward; the skill is knowing which of tens of thousands of subreddits contains commercial intent and how to speak there without being dismissed. A good engagement leaves you with a community map, a library of copy that works, a moderation playbook and conversion tracking you can trust.

Is Reddit big enough to matter for our media plan?

Comfortably, and it is growing faster than most of the alternatives. Reddit reported 130.3m daily and 514.6m weekly active uniques with advertising revenue of $762m, up 64% year over year in the second quarter of 2026. The more useful point for planning is the shape of that audience: people arrive with a question, sorted into interest groups, at the exact moment they are choosing between options. Very few environments combine that intent with comparatively low auction pressure.

Our first attempt got destroyed in the comments. What changes?

Three things, and they are all fixable. First, the room: an ad in a general-interest community reads as an intrusion, while the same ad in the community that debates your category is welcome information. Second, the language: marketing superlatives invite exactly the response you got, whereas specifics, prices and honest limitations do not. Third, presence: someone from the brand replying openly changes the tone of a thread within hours. We staff that from the first hour rather than watching it unfold.

Should we post organically as well as advertise?

Usually yes, carefully and never covertly. Answering questions in your area of expertise, with your affiliation stated, builds the credibility that makes the paid activity land, and those threads keep earning visibility long afterwards. What we will not do is create the appearance of independent enthusiasm — it is against Reddit's rules, it gets found out, and the cleanup costs more than the campaign. Our AI search team plans that side with the same brief as the ads.

How do Reddit costs compare with other platforms?

Clicks are typically cheaper than on the larger social platforms, and that is genuinely useful and easy to over-read. Cheap traffic from a curious audience is still expensive if it never buys, so we judge the channel on qualified pipeline or contribution from the outset. In practice the sharper lever is subreddit selection: the same ads and budget can differ several times over in outcome between a broad room and the specific one where your buyer is asking for a recommendation. We publish our own client benchmarks rather than the vendor round-ups floating around, because most of those are unaudited.

Which formats work best here?

Conversation placements, which sit inside threads and feel native, carry most of the weight for consideration. Free-form posts allow the detail this audience actually wants, video works for demonstrating a product in use, and carousels suit multi-product ranges. What travels badly is a polished film cut for another channel, or anything whose first line is a slogan. We produce per format rather than resizing one asset, and we rotate before fatigue because these audiences are finite.

How do you handle tracking and attribution?

We install the pixel properly, add server-side conversions where the browser is unreliable, and push qualified outcomes back from your CRM so bidding optimises toward revenue rather than form fills. Because a lot of the value here shows up as someone searching your brand later, we also read branded search and direct traffic alongside the ad-account numbers, and we run geo holdouts on larger budgets. Our server-side tracking team builds that layer when it does not already exist.

How long before we know whether this works?

Two to four weeks for delivery and copy signal, six to twelve for a confident read on cost per qualified outcome. The variable is usually how quickly we find the two or three subreddits that carry the account; that is a search problem, and it is why we launch across a spread of small tests rather than one large set. You will see the weekly working notes throughout, including the tests that failed and what we concluded from them.

Can you run this alongside our other paid channels?

Yes, and it works better that way. Reddit tends to create demand and resolve doubt, which shows up in branded search and direct traffic, so we plan it as one budget with your paid search and paid social activity and manage frequency and messaging across them. If another agency owns those channels we will share the community map and the measurement method with them, because the channel is easier to justify when the whole funnel is read together.

What do you need from us to do this well?

Less than you might expect: someone who knows the product deeply for an hour a week, approval on the moderation lines, and access to the outcome data. The single most valuable input is honesty about what the product is not good at, because being straight about limitations is the fastest way to earn credibility in these rooms. Everything else — research, copy, formats, tracking, moderation, reporting — sits with us.
