How three repair shops turned page-two visibility into 800 extra phone calls
Device repair is decided in minutes. Someone cracks a screen, searches, and calls the first shop that looks close and open. Ranking fifth instead of nineteenth is the whole business.

01 — The challenge
Visible enough to be counted, not visible enough to be called.
Univer Phone repairs phones, tablets and laptops out of three locations north of Montreal. The site already collected search impressions — 78,832 in September 2024 — but it sat at an average position of 19.2, which in practice means being listed on a page almost nobody scrolls to.
For a walk-in repair business that gap is expensive in a specific way: the demand is local, immediate and phone-shaped. A customer with a broken screen does not compare five shops. They call one. Impressions that never convert into a ranked, clickable, callable result are simply not revenue.
“People do not shop around for a cracked screen. They call whoever comes up first and can see them today. If we are not in that first handful, we do not exist.”
Illustrative quote — written by Web Tonic to put the results above in an owner’s words. It is not a statement provided by the client.
So the work was aimed at the two numbers that decide a repair call: where the business ranks, and how many tracked calls actually land.
02 — Our approach
Rank the service and the city together, then measure the phone.
The account runs on organic search and Google Business Profile, with every inbound call tracked, so improvement had to be provable at the phone rather than at the impression.
Position before volume. Average position moved from 19.2 in September 2024 to 11.2 by September 2025 and 5.51 by March 2026 — the difference between being indexed and being chosen.
Wider footprint on the way. Search impressions grew to 2,541,110 over the last twelve months against 1,915,794 in the matched twelve before, peaking at 311,054 in a single month.
The phone as the scoreboard. Tracked calls rose from a floor of 44 in December 2024 to 248 in January 2026 and 212 in August 2026. Across matched months: 1,844 calls against 1,044, up 76.6%.

03 — What we did
Four workstreams, one telephone.
Every change was judged on whether the phone rang more in the following month.
Ranking depth
From position 19.2 to position 5.5
Average Google position improved from 19.2 in September 2024 to 11.2 a year later and 5.51 by March 2026. That is the move from being crawled to being called.

Footprint growth
2.54 million impressions against 1.92 million
Search impressions grew 32.6% year over year on matched months, from 1,915,794 to 2,541,110, with a single-month peak of 311,054 in January 2026.

Call tracking
1,844 tracked calls in twelve months
Tracked calls rose 76.6% year over year on matched months, 1,844 against 1,044, with monthly peaks of 248 in January 2026 and 212 in August 2026 — against a pre-work floor of 44.

Multi-location coverage
Three shops, three catchment areas
Saint-Eustache, Boisbriand and Mont-Royal each need their own local visibility, so the profile and site work was structured per location rather than as one regional blur.

04 — The results
Position 5.5, impressions up a third, and 800 more calls.
