The Mattress Depot
Factory-direct, explained properly
The Mattress Depot manufactures mattresses, beds, toppers and pillows in the UK and sells them direct. The catalogue is broad and technical: bunk-bed mattress depths, guard-rail clearance, BS7177 certification, firmness by sleeping position. All of it decides the sale, and none of it fits in a product title.

01 — The challenge
Buying a mattress online is a research problem, not a browsing problem.
Nobody adds a mattress to a basket on impulse. They want to know which depth is legal under a bunk-bed guard rail, whether a 2ft6 frame fits a growing child, what a pocket-sprung unit actually does differently from memory foam, and what happens if the thing arrives and feels wrong. A standard Shopify collection page — a title, a filter rail and a grid — answers none of that.
The catalogue was the easy part. The buying decision was the part with no page to live on.

Shopify store replacing a scattered, guide-less catalogue

02 — Our approach
Make each collection page a buying guide with a grid attached.
We designed and built the store on Shopify around the categories people actually search — beds, bunk beds, kids and children beds, mattresses by type, pillows, toppers, sale. Each collection carries an intro that frames who it is for, the filter rail, then a full buying guide underneath: sizing and dimension tables, materials and construction, safety and certification specifics, care instructions and a category FAQ.
On the CRO side we pushed the reassurance to the front: the 100-night risk-free trial, free UK delivery, factory-direct pricing and the mattress finder quiz sit in the hero and repeat down the page, so the reasons to commit travel with the shopper instead of hiding in a policy page.
The about page carries the manufacturing story — British made, family owned, decades in the trade — because for a direct-to-consumer manufacturer that credibility is part of the product.

guide attached to grid
Every collection page answers the questions
that stall the sale.
Bunk-bed mattress depths, guard-rail clearance, BS7177 certification, firmness by sleeping position — the technical detail that decides a mattress purchase now sits inside the collection page itself. Each category carries its own intro, filter rail, then a full buying guide: sizing tables, materials, safety specs, care instructions and an FAQ underneath the product grid.

03 — The results
A Shopify store where research and shopping happen in one scroll.
Collection pages for beds, bunk beds, kids beds, mattresses by type, pillows, toppers and sale now carry the dimensional tables, construction explanations and certification details that used to live nowhere. The 100-night risk-free trial, free UK delivery and factory-direct pricing repeat down each page instead of hiding in policy links.
The about page holds the manufacturing story — British made, family owned, decades in the trade — so the credibility that matters for a direct-to-consumer manufacturer travels with the product catalogue.
