01 — The challenge

Curation is the product, and curation does not survive a flat catalogue.

The inventory is the opposite of a standard ecommerce range: hundreds of small-run and one-off pieces, from $6 stickers to statement jewelry, refreshed constantly, much of it made by named local makers. Dumped into a single product feed that reads as noise — and the reason someone shops here, the eye behind the mix, disappears entirely.

There is also a real revenue split to respect. A visitor may be shopping a dress, hunting a $20 gift, or looking up which of the three stores to visit, and one generic storefront serves none of those well.

02 — Our approach

Merchandise it the way the shop is merchandised, not the way a feed exports.

The store is organised the way the boutique itself is: clothing, jewelry, accessories, bags and purses, local artists, gifts and cards — each with real sub-collections underneath (tops, kimonos, crossbody bags, hair accessories, candles, greeting cards) so browsing narrows instead of scrolling forever.

The homepage then does the curation the owner would do in person. Seasonal editorial blocks lead — bring on the colour, the Anju fair-trade accessories story, the wide-leg overalls drop — followed by newest arrivals, shop-by-category tiles, monthly best-sellers and a non-profit-of-the-month spotlight that reflects how this business actually operates in its town.

Conversion detail is quiet but consistent: the $75 free-shipping threshold in the announcement bar and cart, colour and price filters on every collection, swatches on the grid, a cart note field for gift orders, and a contact page listing all three storefront addresses and phone numbers for the customers who would rather come in.

Working with Web Tonic has been a fantastic experience from start to finish. Their team took the time to understand our business goals and delivered exactly what they promised. Communication was excellent, and we've already seen a noticeable improvement in our online visibility. Highly recommended!
