How we vet every listicle
Every agency featured on Web Tonic passes our 84-point editorial review before a single listicle goes live. This is how we vet each pick:
Verified client outcomes: We require real case studies with measurable KPIs — revenue, ROAS, CPA, retention — tied to the exact category being ranked. No cherry-picked wins, no unverifiable numbers.
Independent reputation: We cross-check Clutch, Google, G2, and Trustpilot ratings, and screen for review-bombing or suspicious patterns. Only operators with a consistent, verifiable track record make the cut.
Beyond that, every listing goes through a quarterly re-audit. We check 84 criteria across 6 pillars to make sure it still holds up — here are some of the checks we run:
A marketing mix modelling agency builds statistical models linking historical spend, pricing, promotions and outside factors like seasonality to sales. Using regression, Bayesian methods or open frameworks such as Google's Meridian and Meta's Robyn, these teams quantify each channel's contribution and its diminishing-returns curve, then simulate budget scenarios across TV, digital, retail media and out-of-home. Deliverables are a calibrated model, a sales-driver decomposition and scheduled refreshes.

We compared 20 providers on modelling approach, refresh cadence, whether incrementality testing is included, disclosed offices and published pricing. Only 1 of the 19 external entries names a client publicly and none publish a rate. Blackwood Seven was dropped: no verifiable brand asset.
Which marketing mix modelling partner fits your business?
It tracks your data and cadence. Analytic Partners, Ekimetrics and Gain Theory serve multi-market enterprises; NielsenIQ and Circana suit CPG brands needing store-level POS data; Recast, Prescient AI, Fospha and Lifesight fit ecommerce teams wanting faster, lighter model refreshes.

Frequently Asked Questions
When is a business ready for marketing mix modelling?
Two conditions matter more than size. You need roughly two to three years of weekly spend and outcome history across several channels, and you need a decision that actually depends on cross-channel allocation — usually annual or quarterly planning. A single-channel advertiser gets more from incrementality tests than from a model. If your history is short or your channel mix changed dramatically last year, start with geo holdout experiments and build the modelling dataset properly while you wait.
What does MMM cost, and why will nobody quote it publicly?
None of the 19 external providers here publish a rate, because scope drives price more than headcount does: markets, brands, channel granularity and refresh frequency each multiply the work. The visible signal is the software market, where 2025 saw entry-level mid-market tiers appear at roughly USD $2,000–8,000 a month against the six-figure annual contracts that preceded them. Managed services now account for 37.7% of category revenue and are growing faster than licences, which tells you buyers are paying for interpretation, not maths.
Is open-source modelling as good as a commercial vendor?
The maths is not the differentiator any more. Google's Meridian, Meta's Robyn and PyMC-Marketing are credible foundations, and Google launched Meridian with more than 20 certified partners including several firms on this list. What you buy from a vendor is data engineering, calibration discipline, priors informed by category experience and someone accountable when the model disagrees with the platform dashboards. Open source lowers the licence cost and raises the requirement for internal statistical capability; it does not remove the work.
How does MMM relate to attribution and incrementality tests?
Think of them as three instruments measuring the same system at different resolutions. Attribution is granular and immediate but privacy-fragile. Mix modelling is aggregate, privacy-safe and covers offline media, but it refreshes slowly and cannot tell you which creative worked. Incrementality experiments — geo holdouts, lift studies — are the calibration layer that keeps the other two honest. The strongest programmes use experiments to set priors in the model, then let the model allocate budget between planning cycles.
Which industries get the most out of it?
Retail and fast-moving consumer goods dominate, at 24.6% and 21.8% of category application revenue respectively, because both spend heavily across media that no click can trace and both have clean weekly sales data. Anyone with meaningful offline or brand spend, retail media investment or long consideration cycles is a natural fit. Pure-play ecommerce brands use it too, but usually in the faster, lighter form the newer vendors sell rather than the full annual econometric build.
Choosing a Marketing Mix Modelling Partner
Decide what the model is allowed to change. A model nobody acts on is an expensive report. Before shortlisting, name the planning meeting where its output will be argued over, and who owns the budget it will move. Buyers who can answer that get scoped a decision tool; buyers who cannot get scoped a study.
Ask about calibration, not accuracy. Every vendor's model fits history well. The useful question is how it is calibrated against experiments — which geo tests, which holdouts, how priors were set and what happens when the model and your platform reporting disagree. A partner who has run that argument before will describe it in specifics.
Price the refresh, not the build. The first model is the cheap part. Refresh frequency, added markets, new channels and re-training after a mix change are where budgets drift. Get the refresh cost in writing, along with who does the data engineering when a source changes format.
Insist on interpretation you can defend. Ask to see a redacted decomposition and read how the recommendation was written, because that document is what your CFO will actually judge. If you want modelling from people who also answer for the media it reallocates, see our data intelligence work, read our latest analysis, or book a call.
