How we vet every listicle
Every agency featured on Web Tonic passes our 84-point editorial review before a single listicle goes live. This is how we vet each pick:
Verified client outcomes: We require real case studies with measurable KPIs — revenue, ROAS, CPA, retention — tied to the exact category being ranked. No cherry-picked wins, no unverifiable numbers.
Independent reputation: We cross-check Clutch, Google, G2, and Trustpilot ratings, and screen for review-bombing or suspicious patterns. Only operators with a consistent, verifiable track record make the cut.
Beyond that, every listing goes through a quarterly re-audit. We check 84 criteria across 6 pillars to make sure it still holds up — here are some of the checks we run:
A graphic design agency designs and looks after a company's visual system: identity and logo, typography, colour, packaging and print artwork, editorial and campaign templates, and the guidelines that keep everyone else applying it correctly.

Ten Copenhagen studios cleared our evidence check, judged on what their own sites publish about design work rather than digital services in general. Nine are Copenhagen companies, six name a verifiable client, and none publishes a rate.
Why does this Copenhagen list have only ten agencies on it?
Because ten external studios cleared our evidence check and we publish the number we found rather than padding it. Nine hold a Copenhagen head office, six name a client we could verify on their own site, and none of the ten publishes a rate.

Frequently Asked Questions
Ten feels short for a design city. Is that a real result?
It is a deliberate one. Copenhagen has hundreds of firms selling design somewhere on a services page, but this check only keeps studios whose own site evidences graphic design and identity work rather than web builds or media buying with a design line attached. A shorter honest list is more useful than forty names padded with agencies that would subcontract your artwork on the day you signed.
Nine of the ten are Copenhagen firms. Which one is not?
Precis is a Stockholm company serving Danish clients from a Nordic footprint rather than a Copenhagen headquarters. That is fine, and worth knowing before you assume everyone on your shortlist is a short bike ride away. Ask each candidate where the designers actually sit, how many review sessions happen in person, and who is on the call when something needs deciding quickly.
Six studios name clients. Who, and how much should it sway me?
B14 names Copenhagen Fashion Week, CPH:DOX and the Danish Design Center, Designit names Lloyds Banking Group and HemoCue, Copenhagen Design Agency names BLOX and the City of Copenhagen, and Signifly names Ferm Living. Treat it as proof of scale rather than of quality. Four studios name nobody, which is common where clients sign confidentiality clauses, so ask those four for references.
What is the difference between a design studio and a service design firm?
A design studio sells craft: identity, artwork, packaging, editorial, usually with a founder close to the work. A service design firm sells research and system change, with design as one output. Copenhagen has strong examples of both on this page, and the wrong choice wastes months. If you need a logo and a template set, do not buy a discovery phase you did not ask for.
No studio publishes a price. How do I keep the quotes comparable?
Write the deliverables yourself and make every studio price the same list: primary logo and lockups, colour and type system, a named set of applications, a guidelines document, and the number of revision rounds. Ask for the figure broken into identity, applications and guidelines as separate lines. That way you can cut scope later without reopening the entire engagement or renegotiating a single lump sum.
Choosing a Graphic Design Agency in Copenhagen
Start with the brief rather than the shortlist. Buying an identity and buying ongoing artwork capacity are separate decisions, and the ten studios here lean in noticeably different directions. Say which one you want in the brief and the shortlist narrows itself immediately.
Read the evidence as evidence. Nine publish a Copenhagen address and six name a client, so ask the other four for two contactable references in a company roughly your size before you rule anyone out. Ask each reference how the studio behaved during the third round of changes.
Agree the handover before work starts. Layered source files, vector lockups, font licences in your name and a written guidelines document all belong on the deliverables list, because an identity you cannot edit will be rebuilt at your expense. Name the file formats you expect, because a locked export is not a source file.
Use the consultation to test specifics: how the identity behaves in campaign creative, what it means for your website, and how it is reported inside a growth plan.
